Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love.                                                                                                            Ephesians 4:15-16 ESV

What is the Pastoral Care Team?

Picture
The Pastoral Care Team speaks God’s truth in love in order to grow the body of Christ. The truth that we speak is the good news of Jesus! Jesus lived, died, rose and ascended to Our Father for our sake. It is because of this we know that  Jesus loves his people and promises to be  present with them for eternity through the power of the Holy Spirit. We speak these truths in love knowing that they bring healing and hope.

The Pastoral Care Team is tasked with calling each member of Holy Trinity to communicate this message of God’s love. They primarily do this through asking questions, listening and praying. When we pray we invite those who pray with us to open their eyes to the presence of Jesus. In other words we are bringing them to our Lord. It is in the presence of God that healing takes place and hope is restored.

This task is essential to building the body of Christ. All the pieces of the body are connected together when they are rightly oriented towards Jesus who is the head. The pastoral care team listens for the needs and thanksgivings of the people of the church and redirects all of them towards Jesus in prayer. This is how the church “builds itself up in love.”

What does the Pastoral Care Team do?

The pastoral care team divides up the membership list and spends time every month calling the members of the church assigned to them. During these calls they ask how they can be praying. Prayer needs are shared with the pastoral care team and rector as appropriate and added to the Sunday prayers of the people. At the end of the call the team member prays with the member.
The pastoral care team meets regularly to pray for the people of the church and update the pastoral care list used to make our Sunday prayers of the people.
